- What is Adventureology? -
This website began as a way to inform people of the state of our
cycle-touring adventures including: preparation, planning, where
we were going and what our current location is, the gear we lugged
around and the bikes we rode. It was also a way to keep our friends
and relations from worrying too much about our safety and the conditions
we were experiencing.
Now that we've finished the Tour del Sur (albeit prematurely) we
are left with the doubts as to what to do with this site. We intend
to finish our tour someday. Undoubtedly, we will maintain the site
for people interested in the information we gathered about cycle-touring
this particular route. Perhaps we can take advantage of this media
to offer more to cycle-tourists and adventurers. If you have any
suggestions or comments, please EMAIL
US YOUR IDEAS.
- Tandem Touring in Thailand -
We spent a month in Thailand touring and getting married (not
necessarily in that order). The gem of southeast Asia proved to
be one of the best places we have ever visited. Happy people, beautiful
scenery, a rich history and great food combined with the fantastic
roads to make for a honeymoon on wheels that was as good as it
gets. Read all about it
- Tour del Sur -
The Tour del Sur started off as a 25,000 mile two year cycle touring
adventure around the perimeter of Mexico, Central America and South
America. The journey is being made by two people - Lisa and Chris.
The reason for the trip... just for fun! This site contains information
about all aspects of undertaking an adventure of this type. You
can find out about our gear, our
route and a little about who we are.
We only made it 7 months and about 8,000 miles from Texas to Lima,
Peru. There are many reasons why we didn't complete the trip, but
the single most important reason is... we got sick of traveling.
The burnout just wouldn't go away. So, in lue of doing something
that was no longer fun, we made the very difficult decision to return
to the U.S. on November 23, 2001. Did we make the right decision?
No doubt about it. Are there days when we would rather be back on
our trip? You bet.. don't you have days like that? There are no
regrets and that, we feel, makes the decision the right one - tough
or not.
More people than we expected signed up for our mailing list. To
all of you, we thank you for the supportive and motivational emails
and warm thoughts - especially during the deeply troubling days
of mid-September. The mailing list we maintained, will never be
sold to anyone! We will hold onto the emails until we figure out
what to do with the site. Got any ideas? EMAIL
