The idea....

We were planning a trip to Peru's Machu Pichu ruins when the "idea" came to life.

Lisa was discussing the trip with her father when he recollected a tale of two 1950's beatniks cum adventureologists. For some unknown reason they decided to ride their Sears catalog special 3-speed bicycles from the east coast of the US to California. Upon arrival their thirst for adventure unquenched, they continued south, not stopping until they reached the southern tip of Chile.

For more unkown reasons, Lisa and I both decided that this was the kind of thing that we wanted to do.

...and so the adventure began
